Who We Really Are
Look, we're not gonna pretend we're some centuries-old institution. We're a team that actually gets what it's like to navigate the mess of international law and immigration.
Our Story Isn't Fancy, But It's Real
We started Hollow Vale Odyssey Legal because we saw too many people getting lost in the system. The big firms? They treat you like a file number. The solo practitioners? Often overwhelmed and can't handle complex cases.
We wanted something different. A place where you're working with people who've been in the trenches, who understand that behind every visa application there's someone's whole life hanging in the balance.
Based in Vancouver, we've helped families reunite, professionals chase their dreams, and businesses expand across borders. That's what keeps us going, honestly.
How We Got Here
It's been quite the ride. Here are some moments that shaped who we are.
The Beginning
Started with just three of us in a cramped office, fueled by way too much coffee and a belief that immigration law could be handled better. First client? A student from India who'd been jerked around by two other lawyers. We got her study permit approved.
Pandemic Pivot
When COVID hit, we went fully remote before it was cool. Helped over 200 families navigate the chaos of border closures and changing regulations. Sleep? What's that? But we kept people connected to their loved ones.
Growing The Team
Moved to our current spot on West Georgia Street. Brought in specialists for refugee claims and international business law. Our team hit double digits, which felt surreal. Still feels like we're winging it sometimes, but hey, it works.
Major Milestone
Celebrated our 1000th successful case. From work permits to citizenship, refugee claims to corporate expansions. Each one reminds us why we do this. Started offering bilingual services in Mandarin and Punjabi because Vancouver's diverse and we should be too.
Right Now
We're not slowing down. New challenges with immigration policy changes, but we're adapting like we always do. Building something that lasts, one client at a time.
The Folks Behind The Files
We're lawyers, sure, but we're also immigrants, parents, coffee addicts, and people who actually care about your outcome.
Sarah Chen
Came to Canada as a kid from Taiwan. Knows firsthand how stressful the immigration process can be. Specializes in family sponsorships and has a ridiculous success rate. Drinks matcha instead of coffee, which the rest of us find weird.
Raj Patel
The business law guy. If you're setting up shop in Canada or expanding internationally, he's your person. Former corporate lawyer who got tired of the soulless grind. Now he helps entrepreneurs actually build something meaningful. Huge Canucks fan, unfortunately.
Maria Rodriguez
Our refugee and asylum specialist. Toughest cases, highest stakes. She's saved lives, literally. Worked with international NGOs before joining us. Fluent in Spanish and French. If you meet her, you'll get why clients trust her with everything.
James Wu
Fresh but sharp. Handles work permits and study visas mostly. Former international student himself, so he gets the anxiety of waiting for approval emails. Tech-savvy, keeps us modernized. Beats everyone at office trivia nights.
Amira Hassan
Honestly, she runs this place. Keeps track of deadlines, documents, and makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. Bilingual in English and Arabic. If you call the office, you'll probably talk to her first. She's the real MVP.
David Kim
Cross-border commerce expert. Helps companies navigate the legal maze of international trade and operations. Previously worked for a Fortune 500 doing boring stuff. Now he actually enjoys Monday mornings. Weird guy, but brilliant.
